The Pivot Underpinning the Multilateral Mining Integrated Project (MMIP)

The government commitment to address the menace of illegal and unsustainable mining practices in the country upon assumption of office established the Multilateral Mining Integrated Project (MMIP). Government’s five-year MMIP, an alternative livelihood programme for illegal miners, is expected to cost $10 million. According to the government the MMIP will deal with the issues holistically and introduce some reforms that will firmly deal with, once and for all, the illegal and unsustainable small-scale mining activities in Ghana. A closer review of the project by iWatch Africa uncovered the theory of change underpinning the project.
