Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Grant Writer / Project Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social impact and a proven track record of securing funding through grant writing. (utahcnacenters.com) Additionally, the candidate should possess strong project management skills to oversee the successful implementation of funded projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grant Writing:
- Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities from various sources including foundations, government agencies, and international organizations.
- Develop compelling grant proposals, concept notes, and grant applications tailored to the requirements of funding organizations.
- Collaborate with program staff and finance team to ensure alignment between project objectives and funding guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of grant submissions, deadlines, and outcomes.
- Project Management:
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of funded projects in collaboration with program managers and other stakeholders.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure efficient utilization of resources and timely delivery of project outcomes.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Prepare regular progress reports and updates for donors, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Partnership Development:
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential funding partners, including donors, philanthropic organizations, and government agencies.
- Collaborate with program staff to identify strategic partnership opportunities and develop joint funding proposals or initiatives.
- Represent iWatch Africa at meetings, conferences, and networking events to promote our work and identify potential funding opportunities.
- Capacity Building:
- Provide training and support to staff members on grant writing best practices, donor requirements, and project management principles.
- Foster a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the organization to enhance our capacity to secure funding and implement projects effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as project management, international development, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Experience in journalism, or communications will be a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or project management within the nonprofit sector, preferably in an international or African context.
- Proven track record of securing grants from diverse funding sources and meeting fundraising targets.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive proposals and reports.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and execute complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation principles and experience in tracking project outcomes and impact.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of iWatch Africa, including a passion for promoting transparency, accountability, and social justice in Africa.
